Sanne<\/a> recently gave the Artificial Intelligence for Engineers<\/em> training course at Mikrocentrum<\/a>, for engineers from Silicon Operations B.V..<\/strong><\/p>\n

From \u201cAI solves everything\u201d to targeted choices<\/h3>\n

Many engineers want to do \u201csomething with AI\u201d<\/em>, but are mainly looking for a grasp of the subject: what exactly is AI, what forms does it take, and how do you determine what works and what doesn’t in each situation? The training course focused precisely on that translation. Don’t get stuck in abstract promises, but understand how to move from the idea that \u2018AI solves all my problems\u2019<\/em> to a concrete choice for a type of AI or Machine Learning model that can help you gain specific insight or make a prediction.<\/p>\n

Learning by doing<\/h3>\n

During the training, the participants worked towards that concreteness. They explored different forms of AI and machine learning and practised applying them to issues from their own organisations. They also got to work in a practical way, for example by practising in Python with setting up models that can contribute to solving a specific problem.<\/p>\n

Depth from practice and use cases<\/h3>\n

The composition of the group played a major role in this. The participants were quick to understand and brought their own ideas and use cases with them. This made it possible to quickly go into depth and jointly investigate whether each component of machine learning could be a suitable solution within their organisation, or not.<\/p>\n

Energy from interaction<\/h3>\n

For Sanne, the strength of this type of training lies in the interaction. Working with experts \u2013 in this case from the manufacturing industry \u2013 and their eagerness to learn creates energy within the group. By exploring together how their domain knowledge and AI can reinforce each other, a dynamic is created that makes every training session different.<\/p>\n

Positive evaluation<\/h3>\n

This approach was clearly appreciated. The training course was rated with an average score of 9.0<\/strong>, with an 8.6 for the content and a 9.6 for the trainer.
